In this hands-on class students will learn how to infuse herbs, work with wildcrafted plants and leave knowing how to make their own skincare products. Come deepen your knowledge of how to incorporate healing plants into best-selling, easy-to-make skincare products. You'll receive a valuable class handout, recipes that are made in class, and sage advice from indie beauty cosmetic formulator, Marla Bosworth.
Students will learn to customize their own herbal skincare products: body butters, balms/lip balms and body scrubs. We will be using natural ingredients including botanicals, organic butters, plant oils and essential oils.
Want to get started selling bath and body products or looking for new products to add to an existing line? These are among our best-selling and best-loved products by our own customers! If you're looking for products that are easy to make and produce, require little shelf space, these are the ones! You can easily start selling within a few months and Marla will guide you on the business steps to get there if that's something you feel called to explore.
This class is taught by Marla Bosworth of Back Porch Soap Company. She will share her 21 years of formulating plant-based skincare products. You'll learn the essentials of formulating products made in class as well as the healing properties of plant carrier oils, herbs and wildcrafted botanicals that Marla will bring for products that we will be making from scratch. Students will learn how to ethically and sustainably harvest wildcrafted botanicals and where to purchase.
These healing body treatments are wonderful products for personal use, gifts or to sell. You'll take samples of all products made in class and recipes to easily make more at home.
This is also a great class for massage therapists, spa owners, bath and body company owners, and anyone who wants to make incredibly good-for-your-body products. No prior experience necessary.
We will cover the essentials of formulating the products made in class as well as the healing properties of plant oils, herbs and other botanicals. As a class we'll make a batch of luscious body butters - whipped up nice and light! Body butters are wonderful for massages and for dry skin. They are made differently than creams and lotions and do not contain water, instead only skin-loving butters and nutrient-rich plant oils. You'll love the price markup on these products if you make natural skincare to sell. If you don't have a business, you'll love the money saving benefit of making your own bodycare products.
We will discuss the best packaging options for each product we make this evening as well as how to properly label your indie beauty products.
Next, we'll make a batch of body balms and lip balms as we work with healing, infused, nutrient-packed herbs.
This is a hands-on class. If you have an existing bath and body business, you'll love how these products boast great markups. You can cross-sell these with the rest of your line to your customers.
We'll be making distinctively different formulations, and students will take home the following:
Organic Herbal Whipped Body Butter
Organic Herbal Body Balm/Organic Lip Balm
Organic Herbal Body Scrub
This class is open to beginner through advanced. Students will receive a class handout that includes instructions, formulas and a valuable list of Marla's favorite places to buy supplies and equipment.
