Learn how to create your own personalized body creams and lotions in this hands-on workshop with Marla Bosworth. Students will explore a wide range of ingredients to incorporate into their own best-selling, signature products or to simply make for themselves and others. This workshop is also intended for students who are already making creams and lotions and are struggling with creating a formula that works for them.
In this easy-to-follow class, Marla will show students how to tailor skincare products to your concerns as well as those concerns of your customers and clients using clean, cruelty-free ingredients. Are your creams and lotions too greasy, not absorbing into the skin, unsure which preservatives to use and how much, struggling with viscosity (thickness or thinness) of your formula and unsure how to tweak your formula to your liking? Come get all your questions answered and start making creams and lotions like a pro!
This course is much more than a basic lotion-making class. It is an intensive masterclass where students learn to formulate for different skin types by incorporating carrier oils, herbs, emulsifiers, thickeners, natural preservatives, vitamins and other clean beauty ingredients. This class is perfect for newbies, indie beauty entrepreneurs, aromatherapists, herbalists, spa owners, estheticians, massage therapists and anyone wanting to make moisturizers. No prior experience required.
During the first hour of this class Marla will cover the theory of making personalized creams and lotions. Students will gain a solid foundation of how to create their own formulas. Marla will discuss common skincare concerns and pinpoint ingredients to be used to address those needs. Students will receive a valuable handout with formulas, supplier list, theory and more.
After theory and foundation discussion, students will get hands-on training as Marla guides the class in making one batch of lotion and one batch of cream. We will make the products together as a class. Students will each take home:
8 oz. Replenishing Body Cream, customized with essential oils of choice or unscented.
8 oz. Restorative Body Lotion, customized with essential oils of choice or unscented.
Marla creates high experiential workshops - a holistic perspective of learning by transforming new information. If you've ever attended any of her classes you know the energy she creates is positive, supportive, educational and fun. Marla is the CEO of Back Porch Soap Company. She has been making plant-based beauty products and soap for 24 years.
