Discover the art and science of candle making in this immersive, 2.5 hour, hands on workshop with master chandler Marla Bosworth, who has been manufacturing and selling candles since 1998.

Whether you are exploring candle making as a creative outlet, crafting personalized gifts, or developing a product line for your business, this workshop combines the pleasure of creating beautiful candles with the knowledge to make them well.

Create Two Custom Candles

You will design and pour two beautiful candles in glass containers, one using soy wax and one using coconut wax. Explore fragrance blending, experiment with color, and discover how different waxes influence the finished candle.

Marla will guide you through the process of creating your own signature scents, with an emphasis on fragrance performance, including the hot and cold scent throw that brings a candle to life.

Learn the Art and Science of Candle Making

A successful candle line requires more than a beautiful fragrance and an attractive container. Understanding wax selection, wicks, formulation, testing, and safety is essential, particularly if you plan to sell your creations.

Drawing on more than 25 years of industry experience, Marla will introduce you to the considerations behind creating quality candles, including:

• Natural waxes, including soy and coconut, and how to choose the right wax for your goals

• Fragrance blending and achieving beautiful hot and cold scent throw

• Candle color, wick selection, and container considerations

• Candle testing, burn performance, and troubleshooting common problems

• Product labeling, insurance, and liability considerations for businesses

• Packaging resources and suppliers for wax, wicks, fragrance oils, containers, labels, and more

If you are considering launching a candle line, these fundamentals can help you understand the research, testing, and preparation involved before bringing a product to market.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is ideal for beginners, creative makers, spa owners, estheticians, massage therapists, and green beauty entrepreneurs. It is also valuable for existing candle makers who want to strengthen their understanding of formulation, improve candle performance, or troubleshoot issues with wicks and burning.

Candles are a natural complement to skincare, bath, body, and fragrance collections, making them an appealing addition to an existing product line or a potential starting point for a new creative business.
